Summer camp provides a unique environment for campers to grow, make life-long friendships, experience new activities and develop a greater sense of self-confidence. For over 75 years, our camps have been dedicated to providing lasting memories and life skills for each and every one of our campers.
Our camps are considered among the finest private camps by leaders in the camp industry. Established in 1935, the camps have been rebuilt and remodeled over the years. Top ratings have been received from the American Camp Association and State of Michigan Inspectors. The camps were featured in Family Life Magazine as "one of 10 recommended camps in America."
Four Distinct Programs
Lake of the Woods Camp for Girls and Greenwoods Camp for Boys are 4 and 8 week brother/sister camps and are perfect for a family with both a son and a daughter. The Glen at Lake of the Woods and The Grove at Greenwoods are 2 week overnight programs and share the same facilities at different times throughout the season. All camps are adjacent to each other in Decatur, Michigan and operate separate programs. Decatur is located half-way between Chicago and Detroit. The property is on a beautiful sand bottom lake.
Our 80 acres of grounds include extensive lake frontage, riding stables, a climbing tower, a golf course, recreational lodges, athletic fields, tennis courts, rifle and archery ranges, craft shops and more!
Making a Difference
Whether you are with us for 2, 4 or 8 weeks, we want our families to recognize the positive child development that we strive to achieve. We understand the individuality of our campers. Through mature and dedicated counseling staff and an overall ratio of 1:3, we tailor the experience for you. The staff is chosen according to the highest standards. Staff members consist of young men and women who are teachers and mature and outstanding college students.
Like 90 per cent of our current campers; we want you to return year-after-year so that we can continually progress together. We view our time together as a partnership: one where we are providing the ideal environment for our campers to discover their passions; realize their potential; step out of their comfort zone; and achieve what was previously thought of as unachievable.
