What are the facilities like at the camp?

Our amazing brand new facilities include a heated swimming pool, modern cabins, tennis courts, archery and rifle ranges, a basketball court, sand volleyball court, baseball diamond, soccer field, indoor recreation lodge and more!

What are the living accommodations like?

Campers live in spacious, airy, modern cabins with electricity, bathrooms and showers inside. A typical cabin has 12 campers and 3 counselors. Campers have their own dressers for personal belongings and there is a closet for hanging clothes. Campers are placed in cabins with other campers their age. We will do our best to accommodate up to two cabin-mate requests per child.

How much interaction do the Glen and Grove have with the existing camps?

The daily activities, evening programs and special days are all separate from Lake of the Woods and Greenwoods Camps. This means that your child will be in activities with other campers from his or her camp only. The camps share the same lake with different docks. Your child may see campers from Lake of the Woods and Greenwoods while going to and from a water activity, but they will not be taking activities together. The camps have one main kitchen that is shared with separate dining rooms. We may also share a few other facilities such as the driving range and stables, but not at the same time as the other camp.

Are The Glen and The Grove separate programs?

Yes. In fact, the boys' and girls' camps take place on different weeks throughout the summer. There are two different sessions during the summer open to girls at The Glen and 2 different sessions open to boys at The Grove.

Do I need to pack everything on the clothing list?

Yes, but that's all your child needs. No need to over pack : )! Your child arrives on a Tuesday and laundry is sent out on Friday of the first week and on Wednesday of the second week.

When will my child write home?

We ask all campers to write home at least 2 times during their first week of camp and twice during the second week of camp. For younger campers, we recommend you pre-address and stamp envelopes. The mail typically takes 3-4 days to get from camp to you, so please try to be patient.

What equipment does my child need to bring to camp?

We provide all equipment for activities with the exception of riding boots, rollerblades, pads and helmets for rollerblading. You are welcome to pack equipment such as a tennis racket, baseball glove, riding helmet, etc. However, these items are available at camp at no additional charge. You will receive a clothing and equipment list to help you pack your child for camp.

When and how does my child create his or her activity schedule?

Campers will create their activity schedule prior to arriving at camp by filling out an Activity Selection Form that you will receive in March. This helps us get to know your child's interests prior to his or her arrival and is also a great way for you to go over all the camp activities and discuss different options with your child before camp. There are over 30 different activities to choose from (See activities section of the site).

Each morning campers participate in two activities with their cabin groups. Every afternoon campers participate in the electives they selected prior to arriving at camp. They will participate in 3 elective activities on Monday-Wednesday-Friday afternoons and another set of 3 elective activities on Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday afternoons. Each child is guaranteed her top activity choices. A copy of your child's schedule will be given to her on the first day of camp.

How do I keep in touch with my child?

Campers are required to write home at least twice per week and they have time to write every day if they want. We ask parents to write as often as they can. Parents may also send one-way emails to their children. The camp will distribute emails daily with the regular mail. The camp will also post photos of campers each day on our web site for parents to see. We also encourage all of our parents to call any of the directors throughout the summer if you have any questions or concerns.

When should I enroll my child?

The Glen has an open enrollment policy. Spaces are filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Our existing camps have a wait list each September, so we encourage you to enroll as soon as possible to ensure a space for your child.

Will my child who is attending The Glen or The Grove be able to see a sibling that is attending Lake of the Woods or Greenwoods?

Yes. We have a set time for siblings to see each other twice a week, or as needed. Please let us know if you would like us to arrange this for your children.
