(Summer Camp Opportunities Provide an Edge) Raises money so all kids can experience the magic of summer camp.
Attention LWC and GWC Campers: This summer marks our 3rd Annual Swim-A-Thon to raise money for SCOPE-Midwest. We have had great success in the past (see previous events below) and would like you to help us build on that in 2012! To get involved this summer, simply:
Ask friends and family to sponsor you for the event and record them on the form.
Once you have all of your sponsorships, email your form to Emily@lwcgwc.com, fax it to 847-242-0008 or send it to our winter address: 650 Vernon Ave, #202, Glencoe, IL 60022
Our SCOPE event will take place at camp. We will record the number of laps you were able to swim, brag about your success, give you an official SCOPE Swim-A-Thon T-SHIRT and be sure to contact all of your sponsors at home.
It's that simple! Last year our campers swam a combined total of 801 laps. We are setting a goal of 1,000 total laps for the 2012 Swim-A-Thon! A big goal... how many of those laps will you swim?
We will soon be posting full details of our Chicago area "New Camper Parties". It's a great chance to get together with other new campers from the area and have all your questions answered as we lead up to the summer. We will be running a "Parent Orientation too! Check back here for full details or feel free to Contact Us for more information.

1. 2011 SCOPE Swim-A-Thon Over the summer, a small group of our campers came together to make a big difference. 11 campers managed to swim a combined total of 801 laps, raising enough money to send 8 children to not-for-profit camps next year. SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Provide an Edge) is a not-for-profit organization, that has provided camperships for more than 15,000 children from low-income communities since 1991. $500 is enough money to gift another child the opportunity of experiencing summer camp. Thank you to our campers for participating and working so hard!
2. Our 75th Summer Celebration!
2009 marked a very special summer at Lake of the Woods and Greenwoods Camps. We celebrated our 75th summer with current campers and staff and alumni from every decade. Almost 100 of our alumni attended the event, some of which were campers in the 30’s!
Our alumni reminisced by participating in some activities and campers enjoyed learning songs from previous generations. It had been 20 years since their last performance but the ‘Purple Herman and the Wet Willies’ reunited to perform for our current campers. Dayna Hardin honored the legacy of the two previous owners with a dedication ceremony to conclude a memorable day at Lake of the Woods and Greenwoods Family of Camps!
